We were commissioned by US promoters Another Planet Entertainment to create a poster for Flume's three nights at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco to act as a gift to the artist and support acts.
We wanted to created an image that reflected Flume's moody pop sound and aesthetic, so decided to experiment with Perspex shapes, using a range of different graphical forms, tones and finishes.
To shoot the artwork we brought in the super talented photographer James Day who has a really fantastic understanding of composition and lighting, and so was just the man for capturing our set and bringing the image to life. Together we also decided it would be great to shoot the whole image in one go and so set about painstakingly positioning all of the perspex shapes into shot on various rods and sticks until we had a composition we felt would work.
We then designed the typography out around the image, with expert guidance from The Guardian's Deputy Creative Director Chris Clarke.
