"Adults keep saying 'We owe it to the young people to give them hope' but I don't want your hope, I don’t want you to be hopeful – I want you to panic. I want you to feel the fear I feel every day, and then I want you to act. I want you to act as you would in a crisis. I want you to act as if the house was on fire, because it is.” – Extract from Our House is on Fire by 16 year-old Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg at the 2019 World Economic Forum.
As our climate heads closer and closer towards an irreversible crisis, which governments have failed to prevent, it has become our responsibility to do everything we can to prevent this disaster. Led by activist Greta Thunberg the Global Climate Strikes will take place between 20-27th September all over the world, seeing people walk out of their schools, offices and jobs in protest to demand action from the government.
Our wonderful UK agents, Grand Matter hold meaningful creativity at the centre of their company ethos and have brought together their roster of creatives including Aiste Stancikaite, Kris Andrew Small, Thomas Hedger and Toby Triumph to create statement posters encouraging people to take part in the Climate Strikes.
Taking inspiration from one of Greta Thunburg's most powerful statements, "I want you to act as if the house was on fire, because it is." our artwork is a clean and bold statement with no frills or embellishment – just a loud and clear message which we hope will jolt people into action during the Global Climate Strikes and in their everyday lives.
Here in the studio we have also been actively trying to implement more sustainable practices on a daily basis, reusing and recycling paper offcuts for new artworks, using local suppliers who also follow sustainable practices to reduce our carbon footprint, plus cycling and walking as much as possible or using public transport when necessary.
