The Firebird

Poster artwork for the San Francisco Symphony's ‘The Firebird’.

Owen was approached by the multi award-winning orchestra to design the poster artwork for their performance of Igor Stravinsky’s Russian folk-tale, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen. He thought it would be an interesting opportunity to try out a new gradient technique from his usual multi-layered designs, to enhance the feeling of heat from the flame. The final artwork was then beautifully brought to life by animation duo Plastic Horse.
