The Wall Street Journal's Holiday Gift Guide

Owen was approached by The Wall Street Journal to create a bold festive cover artwork and an array of spot illustrations, for their annual Holiday Gift Guide.

The artwork needed to display a selection of ‘Very Specific’ gifts ideas,  so Owen designed a set inspired by traditional advent calendars, with windows to house each product. Then for the spots, he thought it would be interesting to play with scale – zooming in on details of the house, with added festive flourishes.

All the elements of the set were then handcrafted and shot in Owen's studio, out of sheets of coloured paper. These were then layered using board and pieces of tac, with some extra ruffling to bring the foliage and ribbons to life.
