Owen was invited as a Special Guest Artist for the 2025 edition of Secret 7" at NOW Gallery, alongside an array of acclaimed international artists and designers, including the likes of Antony Gormley, Paul Smith, Stanley Donwood, Yinka Ilori, Daniel P Carter, Anthony Burrill, James Joyce & The Cure’s Robert Smith.
Secret 7" brings together 7 iconic tracks from 7 of the world’s top musicians, each pressed just 100 times onto a 7” vinyl. This year featured music from The Cure, Gregory Porter, Frank Turner, Jessie Ware, Keane, Scissor Sisters and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
Owen's sleeve was created in response to The Cure’s stunning track ‘Warsong’ in his multi-layered papercut style. The piece is inspired by the song’s dark war torn themes, using the lyric “we tear the night in two” cut through multiple layers of black paper. These sheets were then literally hand torn in two and layered to create this deep dark brooding piece, drawing your eye into the void.
Each sleeve was put up for auction and Owen's artwork ended up in the Top 10 of all 700 sleeves, raising £620, which added to the grand total of over £230,000 for charity War Child – helping to protect, educate, and stand up for the rights of children living through conflict around the world.
